ABOUT US
Sans Souci Arts Studio is registered in Grenada as an non-governmental organisation, to provide for visual art initiatives, in partnership with domestic and international individuals and organisations. Listed as an arts studio, learning centre, gallery and publisher, our objectives are
- To promote transnational, intercultural collaborative practice
- To engage in residency programmes for domestic and visiting artists to have concentrated creative time to undertake new work
- To generate revenue from workshops, classes, commission from hosting exhibitions, art sales, publications and funded projects.
RESIDENCY DATES AND DEADLINES
We are open to residencies lasting between 2 weeks to 1 month. We can accommodate 1 artist/writer at a time, almost year-round. Deadline 1 December 2017, via email to sanssouciartsstudio@gmail.com for residencies beginning 6 January 2018. Otherwise, let us know when you wish to arrive.

ABOUT GRENADA
The State of Grenada, consists of the islands of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique and 4 smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines island chain. More information: http://www.grenadagrenadines.com/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grenada

CURRENCY
The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, which is pegged to the US Dollar at 2.7169.
WORKING LANGUAGE
The official language of Grenada is English. We can connect visiting artists with local artists/creatives with French, Spanish, German, Polish, Swiss and Chinese fluency.
DISCIPLINES AND MEDIA
Visual Art (Painting, Drawing, Sculpture); Writing. We can connect the visiting writer with local authors and writing groups, and the visiting artist with local artists with glass making, metal bending and woodworking facilities.
Residency studio
RESIDENCY CONDITIONS
SSAS residency provides the visiting artist with shared studio space at NO cost. Accommodation (private room with large bed and fan) includes linen and towels. Bathroom, kitchen and verandah are shared with the residency organisers. Costs, such as travel, travel insurance, visas, materials, shipping of artwork, etc must be covered by the artist.
The residency is on the outskirts of the capital, with easy access via public transport or walking. Other activities happening at the space include occasional workshops/classes. To stimulate your creative juices, we can also connect you with the local running/hiking group, as well as various land and diving tours.
REQUIREMENTS
End of residency exhibition, and artist talk. A 20{7be53c347edc93dd53d32315dd5e13accfceff0591d7e48b64940a69993424f5} commission will be taken on works sold. SSAS would appreciate the artist donating one work to the SSAS collection.

BUDGET
Accommodation: Per week USD 210; Per month (30 days) USD 900; Longer time negotiable.
We recommend you budget about USD 150 per week to cover food, local transport, supplementary materials, etc. We recommend that artists bring the bulk of their own materials from home. Inexpensive, good quality artist acrylics are manufactured locally.
