Last year, I re-read The Old Man and the Sea and reacquainted myself with Roel Caboverde’s rural fishing images. Caboverde’s neocubitst paintings and Hemingway’s words inspired new visual and written content based on my childhood memories of fishing, off docks, rocks and several times from a boat that was a dinghy in disguise.
These images above lean more to Picasso, but all engage the red fish, the last perhaps a little too closely. This is part of my red fish series, which provide respite in between my ShortKnee and historic works.
