Series 1: The Water People 1 – mixed media on canvas paper |
People make art for various reasons from personal enjoyment, to recording people and places,to strengthen traditions or to affect social change. I created three small paintings to be part of an intercontinental exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters to commemorate 2013 at the International Year of Water Cooperation. I called them The Water People (see image above).

Series 2: The Water People 1 – mixed media on recycled vinyl substrate |
My images speak to our dependency on finite water resources on a small island, and what happens – or could happen – to us when our sources of fresh water become contaminated or simply disappear. As this year’s ‘dry season’ lengthens, I was inspired to expand The Water People into a full series of over 20 mixed media works.
