The theme for the Grenada Pavilion is ‘No man is an island.‘ Read up on what we’re doing to prepare for this event.
Tonight, 22 March 2024, during a Waxing Gibbous Moon, I am soaking reusable teabags in scalding herbs and spices tea, with salt as mordant. This is for my installation – Foreigner Within – at Venice.
- Cinnamon
- Clove and sorrel (hibiscus)
- Ginger
- Lemongrass and French thyme
- Moringa
- Nutmeg
- Turmeric and black pepper
The bags will be left soaking overnight, dried, ironed and packed, residue and all. Some items are from my garden, others from friends and family.
These are some of the teas we drink to ward off illness, to feel better, warming bush teas we call them, medicinal bush tea, drunk with honey or sugar or plain. The various mixes and blends console and fortify our spirits, and strengthen our resolve. Who can ever have power over us again?
