14 artists, 8 countries. International Art Symposium, Chateau du Bost, Bellarrive sur Allier, Vichy, France. Delphine Manet, Director of Boz’Art en Baz’Art (http://www.bozartenbazart.com). Theme: ‘Water – Life’s Artery’ to reflect the importance of water in our lives and in the national environment.
Chateau du Bost is a contemporary castle complete with a semi-moat, located on Rue Beausejour. Grenada’s artists were guests of the president of the association ‘Art et Culture’ and secretary of Boz’Art en Baz’Art, Madame Simone Nesson and her daughter, artist Pascale Nesson.
I produced two series based on the caryatids of Grenada’s Wallace Fountain, on loan to Alliance Française by the Cynthia Hughes Foundation. This Wallace drinking fountain is of the same vintage (1792) as the iconic ones in Paris. The Grenada fountain was renovated in 2002 and subsequently heavily damaged in the hurricane of 2004. The first series of five acrylic on canvas works were titled ‘The Water Women’. The second series were acrylic/collage on paper focusing on the damaged parts of the Grenada fountain.
